“Bi-annual hydrant flushing begins on 6/14/2020 . The transmission line will be flushed Sunday morning which may result in low pressure. Neighborhood flushing begins at 11:00 pm and continues until 6:00 am every morning until completed.
Residents may experience lower pressure than normal and harmless discolored water may be present while flushing is being performed. It is advisable not to do laundry during these hours.
Hydrant flushing is a normal part of water system maintenance that improves water quality by removing sediments that may accumulate in the distribution piping. High velocity water removes naturally occurring iron oxide and sediments which accumulate in the piping over time.
